Of all things to be found in the world of Instagram and asked to be interviewed for a new online magazine introducing local artists, music and businesses in Oklahoma City: Native + OKC.
I felt like we were old friends hanging out rather than being officially interviewed...hit it off instantly when I met up with the editor/brainchild, John. His main interest was of course discussing my jewelry and my story, so in talking about those details we got pretty deep into our thoughts on MINIMALISM, where we have very similar interests and views on the concept, which in turn is also the aesthetic of my designs..."keeping it simple"...and also became the highlight topic of the article.
My intention in my designs is to reflect who I am and my own style, which is a comfortable uniform of a base of neutrals in black, gray, white, taupe...and of course my favorite denim. Having that clean palette allows for the jewelry to be the important thing of notice. So, when my customers wear a pair of my earrings, the jewelry naturally compliments their own fashion tastes. There's only shape and structure with no distractions...classic and edgy.
Do have a look at the Native + OKC interview, read his take on minimalism and learn a bit more about me too. Plus, how lucky to be featured along with fellow artist and friend, Holly Wilson. You must read all about her work!
AND AN EXTRA AWESOME SIDE NOTE: As Native + OKC learned about my writing interests, background and connection to the local Oklahoma City community, I was asked to be a Contributor to the website. My first published article can now be seen on www.nativeokc.com! Just so you know...I'm just a little bit excited about this! Very proud! Please read!!! Thanks so much, friends!
